Mrs. Johnson, please, I can't talk to every parent who's trying to lobby for their daughter to be graduated when they're doing badly in school.

I understand you've called three or four times, but I'm a very busy man.

Well, it's very simple. Had she done the work that was required of her, she'd be graduating on time.

Now, she hasn't done the work, and there's really nothing I can do at this late date.

She's just not going to graduate with the class. She'll have to take summer courses, and if she does her work, I'm sure things will work out for the best.
